Custom Cable Assemblies For Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’S)

About Custom Cable Assemblies

Custom Cable Assembly (formerly known as Electronic Harness Assembly), a division of BAC, Inc., was formed in 1992 due to the increased migration of original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) to an out-source solution for leading edge technology products. Custom Cable Assembly (CCA) focused on providing out-sourced solutions in the areas of wire harness and cable design, manufacturing, over-molding, termination, and modification . CCA discovered that in each instance where the OEM had selected out-sourcing as opposed to internal manufacturing, the selection criteria for an out-sourced solution centered on the candidates ability to manufacture leading edge products that could be manufactured with consistent high-quality, and could be delivered to OEM’s various work centers with flexibility, responsiveness, and at a competitive price.

Initially, Victor R. Blair (President and Chief Executive Officer) decided to develop an internal harness and cable manufacturing operation to support the sourcing demands of the original customer base of Advent Electronics, Inc. (a distributor of electronic components that was later sold to Future Electronics, Inc. in October of 1998). After the acquisition of Advent’s distribution business by Future Electronics, Inc., Custom Cable Assembly focused on the design and manufacture of leading edge inter-connect solutions, concentrating entirely on the products of harnesses and cables, for OEM’s throughout North America.

The Company carefully studied the demographics of its existing customer base and decided to locate its manufacturing facility in St. Charles, Missouri. This decision was based on the fact that Missouri was a centralized location that could efficiently support the logistical demands of a national customer base and more importantly, Missouri had a high concentration of skilled laborers required to successfully manufacture high quality harness and cable products.

After relocating its primary manufacturing facility to the St. Charles, Missouri location, Custom Cable Assembly continued its aggressive growth strategy by first acquiring the assets General Harness (a Division of General Radio Supply of Camden, New Jersey), and in November of 1999 BAC purchased the assets of Gateway Assembly Corporation, (a subsidiary of Gateway Electronics, Inc.). The Gateway acquisition brought additional skilled workers, innovative manufacturing techniques, state of the art manufacturing equipment and, most importantly, a loyal well established customer base. It was through the acquisition of Gateway that Custom Cable Assembly was able to extensively broaden its customer base in both horizontal (the number of customers) and vertical (the number of different items being manufactured for each customer) dimensions within a relatively condensed time frame. Custom Cable will continue to pursue acquisitions as its primary source for quantum growth.

Since our inception, Custom Cable Assembly has established a strong positive track record in the industry by providing our customers with leading edge technology products, high quality, competitive pricing, delivery flexibility, and responsiveness. We are also the leader of our industry in the areas of product design and manufacturing. Our product acceptance (quality) ratio and on-time delivery ratios are above 99.9%, which can be directly attributed to building in quality standards at the design level, at the manufacturing cell (at the sub-assembly level), and by providing high levels of customer service in the area of MRP schedule sharing that ultimately facilitate the delivery of our quality products to our customers.
